DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday asked HM Ershad to seek apology for his write ups over Late President Ziaur Rahman, also founder of BNP.
The BNP leader made the plea while addressing a discussion meeting arranged by ‘Sommilito Nagorik Samaj’ demanding immediate release of Nasir Uddin Pintu at the National Press Club.
Indicating the Ershad’s write-up, who was also a former chief of Bangladesh Army, titled ‘To the Prime Minister’ that was published in various newspapers on Saturday, Fakhrul said, “It was not General Zia rather you (Ershad) who came to power treading blood.”
The spokesperson for the party also alleged that the incumbent government has been using RAB and other law enforcing agencies to kill not only BNP supporters and leaders but also anyone who is showing different views.
Fakhrul asked the countrymen to stage movement against the AL-led grand alliance government unitedly.
Sommilito Nagorik Samaj president Anwar Parvez Badal presided over the meeting.
