FROM PIRGANJ (RANGPUR): Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Saturday said one lakh Wifi zones would be established around the country so that people can use internet free of cost.

“We have planned to set up wifi zones at every school, colleges and universities so that the people of the country can use internet free of cost,” he said.

Joy, ICT affairs adviser to the PM, also said, “Bangladesh will be a developed country within 2041.”

He made the observation while addressing a rally at Kasiman Nesa Girls High School in Pirganj upazila.

Joy said, “We had established 25,000 computer labs around the country in the last five-year tenure. We also have a plan to set up wify zones at every school, colleges and universities... so that countrymen can use cost free internet service.”

Jatiya Sangshad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, State Minister for Home Affairs Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Rural Development and Co-operatives Division Mashiur Rahaman Ranga, State Minister for Information and Technology Affairs Zunaid Ahmed Palak and State Minister for Ministry of Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam also spoke.

Ministry of Information & Communication Technology and Ministry of Posts and Tele-Communications Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui presided over the meeting.
