THAKURGAON: BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday categorically said the government would be compelled to hold the interim elections.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion while addressing bi-annual meeting of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, municipality and Government College unit Chhatra Dal.
Mirza Fakhrul also urged people to join in the anti-government movement after the eid under the leadership of Khaleda Zia to get back the rights of people and to protect democracy in the country.
He also said, “Awami League killed democracy for the second time. Such a government that does not represent the people has been ruling us.”
Fakhrul further said AL betrayed with the countrymen by introducing the 15th amendment in the constitution and arranging general elections under a partisan government.”
With district Chhatra Dal president Rashed Alam Labu in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Sadar upazila parishad chairman Taimur Rahman, vice-president of district BNP Mirza Faisal Amin, joint secretary Obaidullah Masud and general secretary of district Chhatra Dal Aminul Islam Shohagh.
