DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday categorically said the government would have to face counter prevent if they try to prevent peaceful movement after the eid.
“We will arrange peaceful demonstrations to establish people’s right and democracy but we will reply properly if the government tries to obstruct our movement,” she said.
The BNP chief came up with the forewarning in an Iftar Mahfil, arranged by Dhaka City BNP, at LD Hall of the parliament.
She said, “We will go for peaceful demonstrations after the eid as we do not believe in setting arson and vandalism.”
The former premier of the country further said that they would announce a new committee of Dhaka Metropolitan BNP to patch up previous mistakes and to strengthen the movement.
With member secretary of the city BNP Abdus Salam in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by senior lawyer Barrister Rafique Ul Haque, acting secretary of the party Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Dr RA Gani, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia and Mirza Abbas.
