DHAKA: A freshly constituted committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Dhaka metropolitan unit is going to be declared at any moment.

Sources told banglanews that BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas as the conveyer and party Chairperson Khaleda Zia's adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo as the co-conveyer are going to lead the committee.

The new 21-member convening committee is to arrange council following forming of unit, ward and thana committees, sources added.

BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office sources said that all organizational work, in this regard, has been completed.

Now it just requires the party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s approval, they added.

However, party insiders said that BNP Standing Committee member Goyeshwar Chnadra Roy, Juba Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, social affairs secretary Abul Khayer Bhuiyan, party lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne, Swechchhasebak Dal President Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Khaleda’s lawyer Nasir Uddin Ahmed Ashim, Chairperson’s advisor MA Qayum, BNP leader Anwaruzzaman, Abdul Bashit Anzu and Sultan Salahuddin Tuku are going to be included in the new committee.

The earlier city BNP committee was formed on May 14, 2011 with Sadeque Hossain Khoka as its convener and Abdus Salam as member secretary.

That committee was asked to form the ward and thana committees within six months but they failed.
