MECCA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and its senior vice chairman Tarrique Rahman held a meeting with Islamic Development Bank (IDB) President Ahmad Mohamed Ali in Saudi Arabian city of Mecca on Thursday.
The IDB president met with them at a suite of Ashafa place in the city where the BNP leaders are staying now.
Khaleda's press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Maruf revealed details of the meeting to banglanews over cell phone saying Ali held an hour-long meeting with the BNP chief and she was assisted by special representative to Saudi Arab Enamul Haque where Tarequie was also present.
They discussed different bilateral issues during the parley. Khaleda praised the IDB’s assistances to Bangladesh on different projects including power, energy, human resources development, socio economic development, poverty reduction and environment protection.
She also urged the bank president to increase its aids to the Bangladesh in coming days.
Ali also praised late president Ziaur Rahman’s role in formation of IDB, Maruf added.
