DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has returned to Dhaka on Saturday evening after her seven-day visit to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah and meeting her family members including Tarique Rahman.
An Emirates Airlines carrying her landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 8:20pm.
Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, vice-chairman Selima Rahman, adviser to BNP chairperson Abdul Awal Mintoo, Dhaka district BNP president Abdul Mannan, human rights affairs central secretary Barrister Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim, Swechhasebok Dal general secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Khan Sapu and Mohila Dal president Nure Ara Safa, among others, was present at the airport to welcome her.
Besides, a number of leaders and activists from the capital and its neighbouring areas also were present with banners and festoons to welcome the BNP chairperson.
On July 20, Khaleda Zia left Dhaka for performing Umrah at holy Kaba Sharif in Makkah and to meet her family members along with her son Tarique Rahman, daughter-in-law Dr Jobaida Rahman and grand daughter Jaima Rahman.
Besides, Tarique Rahman’s wife and daughter, BNP leader Mosaddek Ali Falu, BNP chief’s personal photographer Nuruddin Ahmed Nuru, Saudi Arabia's western unit of BNP president Ahmad Ali Muqib, leader Shahidul Islam Nannu, Makkah BNP regional president Maulana Rafiqul Islam, Makkah city BNP president Ferdous Chowdhury and other local leaders and activists were there.
