DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday reiterated the demand for immediate holding of national election under a non-partisan Caretaker Government (CG).
The BNP chief came up with the demand when talking to the journalists after exchanging Eid greetings with eminent citizens, diplomats and people from all walks of life at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital on the noon of the day.
Khaleda Zia said “It is the people’s demand to hold the national election under the CG, the demands will have to be met soon, and the all other polls will be held under the CTG.”
Referring to the BNP’s post-Eid anti-government movement, she said, “Our movement agenda will be peaceful and democratic.”
The BNP leader condemned the Israel attack on Gaza and expressed her solidarity to Palestine. He urged the United Nations to bring peace back in Gaza by halting the war immediately.
Khaleda began exchanging Eid greetings at 12:00pm there.
At the very first phase of the program she greeted the diplomats and then exchanged Eid greetings with the party leaders-activist and mass.
Acting Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member of the party and convener for its Dhaka metropolitan unit Mirza Abbas, Standing Committee Members of BNP Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Brig (retd) ASM Hannan Shah, Barrister Rafiqul Islam among others were present there.
