AFTER RETURNING FROM NORTH BENGAL: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and also 20-party alliance leader Khaleda Zia earlier called for mass movement after Eid vacation. But the party leaders in root-level think that it should take some time to start the movement.
They also think that if BNP starts movement after three months and reorganize its wings by this time, then they will be able to reap a good harvest.
During the visit of some districts in northern region of the country, the local party leaders and activists told banglanews that they played a vital role in anti-government movements two and half years before January 5 national elections.
Many of their leaders and activists had lost their properties and some of them had sacrificed their lives. They complained that during that time the party’s central leaders were less active in stopping the elections.
They also commented that for last six months they have been trying to come out from the losses of past years’ movements.
Nilphamari BNP joint-convener Mohammad Alamgir told banglanews that three people sacrificed their lives in the district but they could not get expected results. Now, they need time to reorganize their party.
He also recalled the negative impact of mass movement during rainy season.
Thakurgaon BNP general secretary Mohammad Taimur Rahman believes that politics is not only an emotion. The reality must be accepted. We can not get good result in calling movement during rainy season.
We should wait for two and a half months. If we start movement from November to January then we can expect a fruitful mass movement against the government, he added.
Panchagarh municipality BNP president commented that if Khaleda Zia cannot reorganize the party, she may not create momentum in anti-government movement.
He also believed that ideal time for anti-government movement can be from November to January. According to him, if they start movement before this time, then they may not get expected results.
