DHAKA: A Dhaka court Monday issued arrest warrant against 21 fugitives from the case of mutiny-time carnage at Pilkhana BDR headquarters, as the trial is underway.
It also ordered confiscation of their property.
Metropolitan Magistrate SK Tofail Hassan passed the orders taking into cognizance the charges against 824 Bangladesh Rifles personnel and civilians in the Pilkhana carnage case.
Earlier on July 12, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) submitted the charge sheet against the 824 accused in connection with the mutiny-time serious crimes.
In the charge sheet DAD Touhid, DAD Habib, DAD Latif, Dad Jalil, former BNP MP Nasir Uddin Ahamed Pintu and ruling Awami League leader of the area Torab Ali were also indicted.
At least 73 people, including 57 army officers deputed in BDR, were killed and many others injured in the mutiny that took place on February 25-26 last year.
A case was filed with Lalbagh police station on March 4 accusing several hundred BDR jawans, including deputy assistant director (DAD) Touhid, in connection with the killings, looting, arsons and other criminal acts. Later, the case was transferred to New Market police station and then to the CID for investigation.
