HC quashes NasimÔÇÖs corruption case

DHAKA: The High Court on Thursday quashed a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former Home Minister and Awami League leader Mohammad Nasim.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Dostagir Hossain and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque in the verdict scrapped the 13-year jail sentence of Nasim from the corruption charge in response to an appeal filed by Nasim against the special court judgment.

On October 8, 2007 the Special Judge`s Court-1 sentenced Nasim to 13 years` imprisonment in the case filed on charge of illegally acquiring wealth and concealing wealth information.

After the verdict Mohammad Nasim told banglanews24.com.bd, “Today’s verdict proved that I was a victim of a ‘false’ case filed during emergency period.”
