DHAKA: After a lull of long five years, BNP convened its National Executive Committee meeting for Saturday in the process of reorganizing the party after the recent setbacks.

The party will hold the meeting at Diploma Engineers’ Institute auditorium at 10am with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the chair. The meeting will continue till 9pm.

Committee members--Secretary General, Standing Committee Members, Vice-chairmen, chairperson’s Advisory Council members, Senior Joint Secretaries-General, Joint Secretaries-General and Organizing Secretary--have been asked to attend the meeting.

The BNP Executive Committee meeting was last held in September 2005 under the supervision of Tarique Rahman, the then senior Joint Secretary-General of the party.

On January 1 this year, BNP announced names of 386 members of the executive committee after holding the December 8 national council that made Khaleda Zia chairperson again and her elder son Tarique Rahman senior vice-chairman of the party.
