DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, also Dhaka city BNP convener, alleged that everything is ‘lawful’ if it is done by Awami League but ‘unlawful’ when it is done by others.
He made the comment on Sunday after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) quizzed him for his alleged involvement over allocation of a piece of land by Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK).
Mirza Abbas, after the quiz held at ACC head office in city’s Segun Bagicha area, claimed in the afternoon that no corruption was happened during the allotment of seven acres of land in Mirpur handed over to the Dhaka Journalists Cooperatives Limited.
However, the allotment was held in past BNP-Jamaat government's tenure when Mirza Abbas was housing and public works minister.
ACC, on March 6, field a case for allocating the seven acres of land to the journalists' co-operatives at Tk 3.39 crore though the market value of the land was Tk 19 crore.
The other accused include former junior minister for housing and public works ministry Alamgir Kabir, National Housing Authority deputy director Azaharul Haque, office assistant Matiar Rahman and cashier Mansur Alam.
