Latif Siddique Expelled from AL

DHAKA: Abdul Latif Siddique was expelled from Awami League after his derogatory comments on hajj and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) created a furore at home and abroad.

The decision came from the meeting of executive committee held at Ganobhaban, official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, on Sunday evening.

Earlier in the day, President M Abdul Hamid terminated Abdul Latif Siddique as a minister on the advice of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the same reason.

A gazette was also published on this, Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said at a press briefing this afternoon.

Until a new minister has been appointed to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT, it will remain under Prime Minister Hasina as per Rules of Business, the cabinet secretary added.
