DHAKA: The High Court on Tuesday asked to present the writ petition, seeking the arrest order of former minister Abdul Latif Siddique for his derogatory comments about hajj and Tablig Jamaat, with the regular bench.
An HC bench comprising Justice Mainul Hossain Chowdhury and Justice AKM Shahidul Haque passed the order.
On October 1, Supreme Court lawyer Dr M Yunus Ali Akand filed the writ petition seeking HC directives on arresting Latif Siddique.
Cabinet Secretary, Law Secretary, Home Affairs Secretary, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and ICT Tribunal were made respondents in the writ.
Yunus Ali also sought for directives on releasing Latif Siddique from ministership and filing a case against him.
However, ruling Awami League already has discharged him from ministership and also expelled from the party presidium.
On September 29, Abdul Latif Siddique made derogatory comments over hajj and Tablig Jamaat.
