JESSORE: Unidentified miscreants chopped an Olama League leader to death in Bagharpara upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shariful Islam, 45, son of one late Iman Ali Sardar of Hagra village.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Officer-in-Charge of Bagharpara Thana Kaium Ali said, “Miscreants chopped Shariful mercilessly at his home premises at 10:00pm Monday, leaving him critically injured.”

Locals rushed him to Jessore Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 5:00am Tuesday, OC added.

The OC also said that a case has been filed by elder brother of Shariful while the reason of the attack still unknown.
