NILPHAMARI: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, also 20-party alliance chief, on Thursday warned of tougher movement to press home their demand of holding general election under non-partisan caretaker government.
“We will return home after ousting the incumbent illegal Awami League government. We will surely win. No more BAKSAL and one-party rule; we will bring back multi-party democracy in the country,” she said.
The BNP chief made the assertion while addressing a rally organized by 20-party alliance at Boro Math of the district Sadar in the afternoon.
Khaleda Zia said, “I won’t say anything today…I will attend another rally in Natore on October 30. I will attend some more rallies at various parts of the country and then call for the final movement.”
She also alleged that the government has destroyed the banks by looting those.
The former prime minister also alleged that the government has looted Tk 38,000 crore from Destiny Group, 3,500 crore from Hall-Mark Group, 1,200 crore from Bismillah Group, 4,500 crore from Basic Bank, 1,200 crore from Rupali Bank, 600 crore from Krishi Bank and Tk 600 crore from Janata Bank and thousands crores of money from the share market.
Terming the incumbent government a liar, Khaleda Zia said it cannot sustain only on falsehood.
Khaleda added: “The government is expert to tell only lie. The government has taken shelter of falsehood but it won’t last long by telling lies.”
She also pointed out that the government has no public support.
Khaleda claimed that people are not supporting the government rather they support BNP. “The government must quit,” she forewarned.
Khaleda Zia also termed the Election Commission inactive and biased.
The BNP Chairperson also demanded elections under the non-party caretaker government within a short span of time.
Khaleda Zia also reiterated that Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) would have to be disbanded.
