DHAKA: Jubo Dal President Moazzem Hossain Alal has been taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office in city, said a competent source.
Declining the information, the thana sources said the youth leader is still in police custody.
Mohammadpur Thana Officer-in-Charge Azizul Haque told banglanews that Alal was not taken to the DB office. “He is now in police custody,” he added.
He further said legal actions would be taken against the arrestees.
Earlier on Saturday, police detained 64 leaders and activists of BNP, including the president of its youth wing Jubo Dal, on allegation of plotting sabotage ahead of Sunday’s hartal.
On information, law enforcers conducted a special drive at the residence of Moazzem Hossain Alal in city’s Lalmatia area, said Sheikh Razibul Hasan, assistant commissioner of police of Mohammadpur Zone.
He, however, said, in the sudden drive, police picked up 64 persons in an alleged sabotage plot ahead of Sunday’s hartal.
Party sources claimed that leaders-activists went to the house to meet their leader.
They further claimed that police detained 80 of their leaders-activists, including Moazzem Hossain Alal, when they were coming out from Alal’s residence.
