DHAKA: The appellate division on Sunday rescheduled for November 6 the hearing on leave to appeal filed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The five-member bench led by Chief justice Mohammad Mozammel Hossain fixed the new date of hearing in response to a plea for early hearing filed by the Anti Corruption Commission.
Earlier on October 14, Chamber Justice Abdul Wahab Mia sent the leave to appeal plea to the full bench of the appellate division of the Supreme Court for hearing on November 27.
Later on October 23, the apex court fixed Sunday for pronouncing order on the ACC appeal for early hearing.
On July 07, Khaleda Zia filed two petitions to the appellate division challenging the HC order that rejected writ challenging the legality of judge appointment.
She also sought stay order on trial proceedings of the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases in the trial court.
The ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
