PABNA: Miscreants chopped dead a local leader of ruling Awami League in Dublia Bazar area at Ataikula upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The deceased was identified as Iqbal Hossain, 45, the president of Ward-4 of Bharara Union of Sadar upazila.

Sources said a gang of 4/5 miscreants attacked Iqbal Hossain while he was taking tea at Dublia Bazar and chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him injured critically.

Later, fatally injured Iqbal succumbed to his injuries on way to Pabna Medical College Hospital.

Pabna Sadar Thana Police Inspector Masud Rana confirmed the incident and said they recovered the body.
