Action after Ramadan: BNP

DHAKA: The opposition BNP said it would announce ‘necessary’ programme after Ramadan if the government does not change its nature.

“BNP will announce appropriate programmes if the government does not change its nature, stop repression on BNP leaders and activists and take steps to control prices of essentials during Ramadan,” BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said.

Addressing a press briefing at the party central office at Naya Paltan on Sunday following the National Executive Committee meeting of the party, he said the meeting did not discuss constitutional amendment and war crime issues.

About 26 proposals and decisions were taken in the NEC meeting.

He said around 361 party leaders were present in the meeting and 60 of them spoke.

Root level leaders expressed their resentment for not calling any party programme against government’s repression on leaders and activists, he said.
