DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said the nation is passing critical time as people do not have basic rights, democracy, franchise and freedom of speech
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion while delivering speech in a commemorative meeting, organized by Bhashani Smriti Sangsad, on late language movement hero Abdul Matin widely known as ‘Bhasa Matin’.
He said Bhasha Matin always fought for people’s rights as well as ensuring their livelihood.
Fakhrul added: “But we forgot ideology of Matin after his death.”
He said, “We will stage movement to regain the basic rights, democracy, franchise and freedom of speech of the people upholding the ideology of Bhasha Matin as the illegal incumbent government has snatched the rights.”
Bhasani Smriti Sangsad President Ziaul Haque Milu, BNP chairperson’s advisor member Shamsuzzaman Dudu, BNP joint secretary general Barkatullah Bulu, former minister Nur Mohammad Khan and Bhasa Matin’s wife Gulbadan Nesa Monika also spoke.
