BOGRA: Police in special drives arrested a total of 87 people, including 15 men of Jamaat-e-Islami and its students’ wing Islami Chhattra Shibir, across the district in 24 hours from Wednesday morning.
All arrestees are accused in different cases related to carry out vandalism and subversive acts.
Uzzal Kumar Roy, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) and also district police media cell coordinator, disclosed the matter via a short massage service (SMS) to the journalist at 9:30 am Thursday.
The ASP also said as part of its special drives, police conducted multiple raids at 12 thanas of the district from 6:00am Wednesday to 6:00am Thusday and arrested 87 people.
Of them, 15 are the leaders and activists of Jamaat and Shibir. Police also recovered two pipe guns and a shotgun during drives.
Earlier, police arrested a total of 279 people across the district between Monday and Wednesday.
