DHAKA: Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali, who was awarded death sentence by International Crime Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Sunday, said all these incidents and depositions are false.
He also said the falsity will be defeated and the truth will triumph shortly.
Mir Quashem Ali made the assertions immediately after the death sentence by three-member judge panel of ICT-2 led by Justice Obaidul Hassan in 11th and 12th number of charges.
Justice Obaidul Hassan read out the summery (11 pages) of the 351-page judgment.
As per the verdict, Mir Quasem Ali was proved guilty in 10 charges out of 14. The charge numbers are: 2, 3, 4, 6, 7,9,10, 11, 12 and 14.
Mir Quasem Ali’s lawyer Mizanul Islam, however, claimed that the verdict did not reflect justice and said they will go to the appellate division to seek justice.
He reiterated Mir Quasem Ali’s speech saying it is a false case and the verdict was divided.
Mir Quasem Ali was not in Chittagong during the incidents and the prosecution failed to provide any evidence in favour of its claim that he was in Chittagong, Mizanul Islam added.
