DHAKA: BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Ahmed Rizvi on Sunday said it was a mysterious matter that the country experienced 12-hour blackout Saturday.
“This was a plot of the incumbent government,” he said.
Rizvi made the allegation while addressing a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the noon.
The BNP leader further claimed that people raised questions whether the countrywide outage was a part of government conspiracy.
Rizvi also alleged the Awami League government made the plot so that the television channels could not broadcast live streaming of BNP’s grand rally in Natore.
The government put pressure on television channels so that they did not air Khaleda Zia’s speeches live.
He also criticized the police force for detaining Chhatra Dal leaders, including Razu, Zakir and Alamgir and demanded immediate release of them.
The senior leader of BNP also alleged that the government has been campaigning against the country to achieve friendship of foreign statesmen.
Education affairs secretary of the party Khairul Kabir Khokon, finance affairs secretary Abdus Salam and Swechhasebak Dal general secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu were among others present at the press meet.
