DHAKA: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has declared countrywide fresh hartal for Wednesday.
However, as another hartal was announced earlier by Jamaat for Thursday, the strike will be observed till 6:00am Friday ultimately, beginning from 6:00am Wednesday.
Deputy of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami publication department Mohammad Ibrahim confirmed the matter.
Sources told banglanews that the hartal has been declared protesting Supreme Court verdict upholding death penalty to Jamaat assistant secretary general Muhammad Kamaruzzaman.
However, a 48-hour countrywide hartal, enforced by them protesting its Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami’s death sentence, is underway.
Earlier, Jamaat marked the first phase of the strike across the country amid stray incidents of picketing, beginning from 6:00am Thursday to 6:00am Friday.
Besides, after the second phase, from 6:00am Sunday to 6:00am Tuesday, the party again set to observe another hartal on Thursday protesting its financer Mir Quasem Ali’s death sentence.
