DHAKA: Awami League (AL) general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam termed BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman unwise and ignorant.
He came up with the remark in reply to a query of the reporters at AL president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office on Friday.
Sheikh Hasina went to the Dhanmondi office for the first time after January 5 National Election and discussed with the party leaders and activists about the party activities.
Later, the general secretary briefed the media about the discussion.
While answering to a question, Syed Ashraf said, the remarks in which Tarique said “a case should be filed against Bangabandhu”, proved nothing but his ignorance as no case can be filed against any dead person.
He said the premier discussed about the party and its council. Hasina assured that the next national council of her party will be completed within time.
However, Sheikh Hasina reached the political office around 4:35pm and spent almost 1.30 hours there.
Advisory council member HT Iman, presidium member Matia Chowdhury, Sahara Khatun, Nuh-ul Alam Lenin, joint general secretary Mahbub-Ul-Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Hasan Mahmud, deputy promotions and publications secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, among others, were present there.
