MUNSIGANJ: Ten people were injured as over 100 cocktails were reportedly blasted in a clash between two groups of ruling Awami League in Char Dumuria village in Munsiganj sadar upazila.
Sources said that the injured people are taking medical treatment secretly in different clinics and hospitals to avoid arrest.
Supporters of Mollahkandi Union Parishad (UP) chairman Ripon Patwari and a defeated UP chairman candidate and also district unit Awami League vice-president Shah Alam Mallik locked into around one-hour long clashes at 8:00pm in the day.
Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC investigation) Yardous Hasan said that supporters of the two rival groups involved into clashes and blasted cocktails one after another.
He further said that on information several teams of police reached the place and brought the situation under their control.
Additional police forces are deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation, he added.
Villagers said that supporters of the two rival groups have frequently involved in clashes since the past UP elections.
As a part of establishing supremacy in the area, they involved in clashes on Thursday night, they added.
