DHAKA: The ongoing practice of arresting BNP leaders and activists over false charges across country is a conspiracy of the government to make BNP leaderless, said BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made the allegation while addressing a press briefing at his party central office in city’s Nayapaltan Friday morning.
He claimed that all the BNP senior leaders, including party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman have been made besieged.
“The fascist government’s deeds are now threat to the country’s democracy,” he added.
The BNP acting secretary general, at that time, also criticized information minister Hasanul Haq Inu and civil aviation and tourism minister Rashed Khan Menon for demeaning former President and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
