DHAKA: The Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 on Tuesday sentenced wife of JMB second in-command Bangla Bhai and two others to 20 years jail for possessing explosive substances.
Tribunal Judge Mohammad Rezaul Islam fined the convicts Tk 25,000 each, in default, to serve one year more in jail.
The convicted were Bangla Bhai’s wife Farzana, former teacher of Rajshahi University Salahuddin alias Saleheen and Asaduzzaman Chowdhury Panir.
The court, however, relieved JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman, Bangla Bhai and JMB military commander Ataur Rahman Suny from the case as they were executed earlier in another case.
The same court, earlier, sentenced Salahuddin and Asaduzzaman to 50 years jail each in a bomb explosion case and more 30 years to Saleheen in another case.
According to the prosecution, RAB members recovered huge explosives and bomb making materials from a house at Akua Uttar Para under Mymensingh Kotwali thana on December 18, 2005.
The elite force also arrested Panir from the house.
Panir told RAB that Saleheen and Farzana stored huge explosives for committing subversive act across the country.
Later, RAB -9 official Enayet filed a case with Mymensingh Kotwali thana under Explosive Act.
After investigation, Kotwali Thana SI Mohammad Ali Khandakar submitted charge-sheet to the court on June 16, 2006.
