DHAKA: Refuting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s remark about BNP patronizing militants, party’s senior joint-secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Wednesday said she could say anything off the cuff as she has no fear of case.
“Cases are filed against us if we say something. But the Prime Minister can utter anything unbridled as no case is filed against her,” he commented at a press briefing at the party Central Office at Naya Paltan.
The press briefing was arranged to protest PM’s recent comment in which she claimed that the previous BNP-led government had its hand behind the serial bombings across the country on August 17, 2005.
“There is no question of patronizing militants. BNP always took stand against the militants,” Fakhrul said, claiming that they had taken legal recourse in curbing militancy.
He also termed the comment made by Mahabub-ul- Alam Hanif, Joint-secretary of the ruling Awami League, as ‘devoid of political decency’.
Recently Hanif said that they would take legal action against Khaleda Zia’s ‘fake birthday celebration’ on August 15.
Fakhrul asked him to keep away from making such types of comment.
