DHAKA : BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed Friday said implementing the High Court verdict on the seventh constitutional amendment would be a big challenge for the government.
Giving his reaction over the High Court verdict at his Gulshan residence, the BNP leader said, “The government, Parliament and the court will decide if Ershad will be tried. It is not clear right now if Ershad will have to stand in the dock.”
Moudud also said it was not Zia but Khandakar Moshtaque, who was a minister of Bangabandhu government, introduced Martial Law in the country.
The High Court on Thursday declared illegal the seventh constitutional amendment that had legalized former army chief HM Ershad`s takeover and his military rule.
