DHAKA: Family members, followers and his party activists gathered in front of Dhaka Central Jail from Saturday morning to greet Mirza Abbas on his release on bail, but all got frustrated once again.
The detained BNP Standing Committee member and ex-minister was shown arrested Saturday in two new cases of torching vehicles the day before the BNP-enforced June 27 hartal, two days after he secured bail in last three cases from the higher court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abdul Mazid issued the order in response to a petition of AKM Shahin Mandol, inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of police.
General Recording Officer Mohammed Ratan Sheikh told banglanews24.com.bd that Mirza Abbas was not released as he was “shown arrested” in the latest two cases, filed with Mirpur and New market police stations.
Meanwhile, the family members of Abbas, his followers and activists also had earlier gathered at the jail gate on Thursday evening and on Friday with a hope of his release as he had got bail in all the previous cases.
