DHAKA: Opposition leader Khaleda Zia Saturday called upon the countrymen to work unitedly, forgetting all sorts of differences, for the sake of country’s development at this "crucial" hour.
“As the country is passing through a very crucial time, we should work together for the country, forgetting all differences,” said Khaled Zia to journalists after a post-eid function.
Earlier, the BNP chairperson and ex-PM exchanged greetings with political leaders of different parties, diplomats from foreign countries and people from all walks of life at Ladies Club in the city’s Eskatan Garden area at noon.
Khaleda hoped the government would solve "peoples’ problems by the next Eid so that they can celebrate the next Eid with happiness".
Regarding the return of her sons Tarique and Koko, both under treatment abroad following release from jail on parole, she said they are very sick. But they will return to the country after recovery.
Replying to a question Khaleda Zia said, “As today is Eid day, the day of joy, I want to say nothing about ‘anti-government movement’. I hope that the government will understand people`s miseries."
