NARAYANGANJ: At least five people including District BNP president Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker were injured as supporters confined and attack them on Wednesday night.

Earlier, District BNP president Advcate Taimur declared that he was going to participate in Jatiya Sangsad election from Narayanganj-5 while he gave words to the people of Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj).

But on Wednesday, Taimur cleared his negative position on Rupganj election which made his followers angry and they attacked Taimur, leaving five BNP leaders injured.

Besides, Taimur was confined till 08:30pm. Later, police rescued him.

Source said Taimur arranged an Eid reunion program at his home in Rupasi area under Rupganj Upazila where hundreds of activists joint in the program.

At one stage agitated BNP activists brought procession and blocked Rupasi-Kanchan road.

Following the matter, Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker told banglanews, “According to central command, I urged to continue movements with Kazi Moniruzzaman, but the activists didn’t take easily Kazi Moniruzzaman and locked into clash.”
 
Rupganj Thana BNP president freedom fighter Kazi Moniruzzaman told banglanews, “Taimur Alam dishonored me, which was not fair.”

Confirming the matter Rupganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman told banglanews, “On information police rushed to the spot at around 08:00pm and brought the situation under control.”
