‘No place for militancy in Islam’

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina categorically said Islam is a religion of peace and there is no place for militancy.  

She came up with the observation while addressing a programme while inaugurating Hajj Camp-2013 at Hajj Camp near Ashkona area in the city Friday.

Sheikh Hasina said, “I feel sorry to see that vested quarters tarnish the image of Islam using it for militancy and terror. I hope these people will stay away from these kinds of misdeed.”  

“Islam is a religion of peace and we want that this religion would be established throughout the world,” She said.

The Prime Minister also said that one beautiful mosque in each district and later at upazila level would be built with modern facilities.

The first Hajj flight from Bangladesh of this year will take off for Saudi Arabia on September 7 and the return flight to begin from October 19.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate M Shahjahan Mian, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruq Khan and Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abdullah Al Nasser Abdullah Al Bushairi also attended the programme.
