RAJSHAHI: At least eight people sustained bullet injuries in a clash between police and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, in divisional city’s Shalbagan area on Sunday.
Witnesses said Shibir activists brought out a procession at around 11:15am demanding release of its central leaders. Being obstructed by police, the protesters hurled brick chips at the law enforcers.
Later, police fired tear shells, rubber bullets and sound grenades to disperse them, leaving eight of them injured.
But the identity of the injured could not be known immediately.
Boalia police station Officerd-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman said that three suspected people were held from the spot. They are being interrogated.
