MADRID: Polish goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek has signed a new one-year contract with Real Madrid, the Spanish club announced on Thursday.
The 37-year-old has been the regular understudy to Spain`s number one keeper Iker Casillas since joining the club from Liverpool in 2007, playing just one La Liga match since then.
Dudek spent the first part of his career at Dutch club Feyenoord before joining the English team with whom he won the Champions League in 2005.
After Liverpool came back from a 3-0 deficit to draw 3-3 with AC Milan, Dudek became the hero of the night by saving two penalties in the shoot-out which resulted in the trophy heading back to Anfield.
Dudek has 59 caps for Poland, the last of them a 1-0 defeat by Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier in October 2009.
