Brazil-Argentina supporters clash leave 15 injured in Habiganj

HABIGANJ: Separate clashes between supporters of Argentina and Brazil football teams left at least 15 people injured in

Habiganj and Nabiganj upazila Saturday.

Alamgir Hossain, sub-inspector of Nabiganj police station, told banglanews24.com.bd that the first clash erupted at around

10 pm when the supporters of Brazil brought out a procession at Kurshi Bus stand area following the defeat of Argentina by

Germany in the FIFA World Cup match.

Irritated by their slogans, the Argentine football fans swooped on the Brazil fans that left 10 people injured from both

sides, Hossain said.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were sent to local hospitals for treatment,

locals said.

At the same time, supporters of Brazil and Argentina chase and counter chase each other in city’s cinema hall area. Scuffles

between the supporters left at least 5 people hurt, police said.
