Uruguay change six for Dutch semi-final

CAPE TOWN: Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez made six changes to his side for their World Cup semi-final against the Netherlands on Tuesday as the South Americans look to make their first final in 60 years.

Several switches were inevitable with influential striker Luis Suarez suspended after being red-carded for his deliberate goal-line handball that denied Ghana a famous quarter-final victory.

It means Diego Forlan is partnered by Edinson Cavani up front with Tabarez switching to a more orthodox 4-4-2 system.

Defender Jorge Fucile is also suspended with Martin Caceres coming in at left back, while skipper Diego Lugano failed to recover from a ligament strain and is replaced by the fit-again Diego Godin.

With Lugano out, Forlan takes the captain`s armband.

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk was forced into making two changes from the side that beat Brazil in the quarter-finals with Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel and Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong both suspended.

Khalid Boulahrouz and Demy De Zeeuw are their replacements as the Dutch look to stay on track to lift their first World Cup trophy.
