BUDAPEST: Hungarian border guards have recovered a black Bentley belonging to Cameroon striker Samuel Eto`o that was stolen in Italy in March, police said Wednesday.

Guards at the border between Serbia and Hungary became suspicious when they checked the papers of two Ukrainians wanting to cross into Serbia, a police spokesman told AFP.

The guards noticed that the car, worth some 150,000 euros (190,000 dollars), was carrying both forged tax stickers and number plates.

They checked the serial number and found that it had been reported stolen to Italian police in March. Eto`o plays for Inter Milan.

The Ukrainian driver, who claimed he did know the car was stolen and was taking it to Greece for a Polish woman he was working for, was arrested, while his companion was allowed to go after questioning, the police spokesman said.
