Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered seven gold bars weighing 818 gm from Satkhira border area on Wednesday (July 3).
The gold was recovered from Kathanda area of Baikari Union of Satkhira Sadar Upazila.
According to a press release of BGB's Satkhira-33 battalion, Naib Subedar, a team of Boikori BOP based on secret information about gold smuggling in India, under the leadership of Shamim Alam, took the position in Kathanda area of the border.
Later, a man sensing presence of BGB left his motorcycle fled the scene. After that, searching the bike seven gold bars were recovered, read press release.
The market value of the recovered gold is around Tk 82,45,100.
In this regard, the process of submitting the gold bars to the Satkhira Treasury Office is underway to file a case at the Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
