DHAKA: A housewife was found dead at her house at Shyampur in the city’s West Jurain Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Sonia Akhter, 22, wife of Nasiruddin.

Police, however, held Nasiruddin in this connection.

Quoting neighbours, Shyampur thana OC Jamiruddin said Sonia and her husband had an altercation Friday morning. Hearing Sonai’s screams, neighbours rushed in but the door of the house was closed.

After sometime, they entered the house breaking open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling, he said.

Nasiruddin tried to flee but locals beat him and handed over to police. He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sonia’s brother-in-law Abul Hashem said, “Sonia and Nasiruddin got married seven months ago. But, Sonia’s family members at first did not accept the marriage. Few days ago Sonia’s mother Lutfunnesa, who lives in Dubai, accepted the marriage and gave Tk 3.5 lakh to Nasiruddin for business.”

Sonia’s mother filed a murder case accusing Nasiruddin.
