JMB chief on 3-day remand

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday placed Saidur Rahman, chief of the banned Islamist outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), on a three-day police remand in an antiterrorism case.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Moazzem Hossain granted the remand in a case filed with Kadamtoli thana under Anti-terrorism Act as he was produced after a four-day remand in the same case.

Earlier in the day, the investigation officer Sheikh Mahbubur Rahman filed a petition for five days for grilling Saidur.

Saidur Rahman was arrested from a house at Dania of Jurain in the capital on May 25.

He was sent to jail on completion of 18-day remand in two separate cases filed with Uttara and Kadamtali police station on June 16.
