DHAKA: Academic activities of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will resume on Saturday after one-month closure following student unrest.
However, the student dormitories will open on July 22, campus sources said.
Shah Alam, public administration officer of BUET, told banglanews24.com.bd that decision of reopening the institution was taken at a meeting of the academic committee, with vice chancellor Dr. A M M safiullah in the chair.
The BUET authorities declared the varsity closed on June 19 for an indefinite period following a clash among students over suspension of classes for watching the World Cup Football
Earlier in the morning, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front staged a human chain demo in front of the institution demanding reopening of the varsity.
