DHAKA: Eden college students staged a human chain demo on Tuesday morning at the college gate demanding trial of the killing of Mohsina Rabbani Menoka, a final year student of its Bengali Department.
Family members of Menoka also joined the demo.
Wearing black badges, over three hundred students of the college formed the human chain carrying placards titled ‘We want death sentence to Menoka’s killer’ and ‘Shatter the structure of male dominated society’.
Biplobi Nari Sangathan also expressed solidarity with the demo.
Nargis Akhter, classmate of Menoka, said she was brilliant student and attended the classes regularly and lively.
Sumaiya, another classmate of Menoka, said another brilliant student of Eden College Poli Halder was killed, and Tumpa and Fency committed suicide.
She said, “Those who involved with the murders are moving freely as they had not to face any trial.”
According to Jannati Shifa and Sumana, it is proved that the government has failed to ensure security for educated women.
Earlier on July 15, a distant relative Tariquzzaman Kabir stabbed Menoka to death entering her living room at Moddhya Paikpara in Mirpur. Police arrested Kabir from the scene.
