KISHOREGANJ: A court here Wednesday placed detained ULFA leader Ranjan Chowdhury and his aide Pradip Marak on seven days’ remand in a case filed under the Explosives Act.
Kishoreganj Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Ali Ahsan passed the order granting the remand after Humayun Kabir, IO of the case, produced the duo in his court with seven days’ remand prayer.
They were taken to the court amid tight security on completion of a three-day remand under the Arms Act.
The two were taken to the TFI cell in the capital for quizzing on the remand.
They were shown arrested in three separate cases filed with Bhairab Police Station under the Arms Act, the Anti-terrorism Act and for trespassing into Bangladesh.
A team of RAB-9 arrested Ranjan Chowdhury, a leader of the Indian separatist group United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA), along with his host Pradip Marak from Laxmipur village in Bhairab upazila on July 17.
