Recklessly driven truck take lives of two footpath-dwellers

DHAKA: Two destitute people were killed and four wounded as a truck mounted over them while sleeping on a footpath near Pir Jongi Mazar in city’s Motijheel area early Thursday.
 
The deceased were identified as Babu, 25, and Tota Mia, 28, and the injured are Mofiz, 30, Abumal, 48, Emdadul, 25, and Bijoy, 28.

Police and witnesses told banglanews24.com.bd that a recklessly driven truck crashed onto the footpath and crushed six sleeping people there at about 5am.

The injured were admitted into Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Motijheel police sent the bodies to DMCH morgue.

Police seized the truck with helper Abbas, but the diver fled the scene.
