DHAKA: State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku Saturday asked the police personnel to be more sincere in monitoring overtaking and overloading tendency of vehicles to avoid road accidents.
“Police personnel should strictly check overtaking, overloading and high speed of vehicles under the existing law as these cause road accidents," he said while inaugurating a training programme.
Accident Research Institute (ARI) of BUET organized the the 10-day training programme on `Accident Event Recording and Reporting” for the police personnel.
A total of 600 police personnel are taking part in the training programme.
The training was arranged so that police can fill up the accident report form properly.
Prof AMM Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor of BUET, said accidents claim live of many meritorious citizens every year.
He also stressed on properly identifying of the issues that cause road accidents and creating awareness among drivers, owners and others about the loss of accident.
Prof Habibur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of BUET and Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dhaka Range) also spoke at the programme.
