DHAKA: The government decided to deploy army for policing the Cricket World Cup matches to be played in Dhaka next year to ensure better security for the sporting extravaganza.
Home Minister Sahara Khatun told reporters Sunday after a meeting at her ministry that the government would ensure security of the players and the spectators. “For this reason, all law-enforcing agencies would be deployed.”
The home minister said a national security committee would be formed under her leadership.
Averting direct reply as to whether she was apprehending any destructive attempt, Sahara Khatun said, “ All preparations will be made taking everything into consideration.”
The home minister said a flawless security net will be formed for 48 days before and after the world cup.
The Cricket World Cup will be hosted jointly by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
